Be Dartmouth-Bound with IvyBound!

Dartmouth College-- #12 (tied) National University (US News & World Report)

Dartmouth College is a private institution that was founded in 1769, in Hanover, New Hampshire. It is one of the oldest and most respected institutions of higher learning in the United States. A member of the Ivy League, Dartmouth has a long history of dedication to the highest educational ideals.

A Dartmouth boasts it education is unlike any other. Through person-to-person teaching and opportunities to create and apply knowledge on campus and across the globe, Dartmouth instills a love of learning among its students and empowers them for a lifetime of leadership. Hence, Dartmouth looks for students who let their lives speak, each having an intriguing story or unexpected perspective to share. As a group, each incoming class is energetic, curious, values-driven, and diverse in a broadly-defined way.

In addition, by maintaining a highly flexible quarter-system calendar called the Dartmouth Plan (D-Plan), and allowing only faculty to teach its undergraduate courses, Dartmouth assures that students have complete and timely access to all that the institution has to offer. Through course-related discussions, research collaborations, and casual conversation, students get to know their professors as instructors, mentors, colleagues, and friends. The Carnegie Foundation has classified Dartmouth as a university with “very high research activity.” More than 50 percent of students participate in the many off-campus programs offered in more than 20 countries around the world.

Dartmouth is a different experience. It’s stepping into the role of researcher; bonding with your professor over coffee; exploring new intellectual frontiers; and thriving in a diverse community. If that sounds like you, then you belong here. Dartmouth expects you to change the world—and we give you the tools to make it happen.

And yet the versatile storyteller and performer recently told an interviewer, “The thing I imagine myself being in the future doesn’t exist yet.” Can you relate?

Academic Parameters

When applying to an institution, it is important to look at the academic information of previous applicants. This includes the SAT/ACT test scores, SAT Subject test scores (if available), GPA ranges, or class ranking. By looking at these data points, you may assess where you fall and how likely is your admission into this college. Please note, there are students who do fall below the middle range and are still admitted, but then their application has one or more factors that boosts their application, such as a special talent, a recruitable athlete, legacy, racial or socioeconomic minority. Use the chart below to see where you fall and if you may raise your test scores and grades to keep your application in the running.
